Terms of Use
Last updated Jun 26, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Adimen website
(adimen.app and its subdomains) and the Adimen products, including Velum
(the browser extension, desktop app, and command-line tool) and other tools in
the Adimen suite (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to
these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
The Services
Adimen provides privacy-first tools that help you work with AI without exposing your private data. The products are designed to run locally on your device. Specific features, supported platforms, and availability may change over time.
Open-source licensing
Adimen's software is open source. Your use of the source code and binaries is governed by the license included with each product's repository (for example, the Apache License 2.0). Where those license terms and these Terms differ in respect of the software itself, the applicable open-source license controls for that software. These Terms otherwise govern your use of the website and the hosted Services.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to our website or infrastructure;
- misrepresent the Services or remove required notices when redistributing the software, except as the applicable open-source license permits; or
- use the Services to process data you are not legally permitted to process.
You are responsible for how you use the Services and for the data you choose to process with them.
Your content
The content you process with Adimen's local tools stays on your device — we do not receive or store it. You retain all rights to your content, and you are solely responsible for it. Masking and de-identification tools reduce risk but are not guaranteed to detect every piece of sensitive information; you remain responsible for reviewing output before sharing it with any third party, including AI providers.
Third-party AI services
Adimen's tools help you prepare data before you send it to third-party AI services (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini). Those services are operated by others and governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Adimen is not responsible for third-party services or for what happens to data once you send it to them.
Intellectual property
The Adimen name, logos, and brand are the property of Adimen and its maintainers. Except for rights granted under the applicable open-source license, these Terms do not transfer any intellectual-property rights to you.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that they will detect or mask all sensitive data.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adimen and its maintainers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Services. Because the Services are provided free and process data locally, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for them, if any.
Changes to the Services and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Services, and we may update these Terms, at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at Adimen's principal place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer under your local law.
